BACKGROUND
Meena has accumulated 35 years of working experience, straddling two distinct worlds. In the first 19 years of her career, she was deeply involved in the non-profit sector, specifically at the Centre for Environment Education. This national-level NGO held the esteemed status of being a designated Centre of Excellence under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India. Meena’s expertise in this field allowed her to contribute significantly to environmental education and social development.

Transitioning to the development sector within a large corporate, Meena spent the following 15 years working for the GMR Group. As the head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), she played a crucial role in establishing and managing initiatives related to education, health, skill training and livelihoods. Her experience at the senior-most levels of a corporate environment, including serving on various corporate and non-profit boards, has granted her a broad understanding of corporate strategy and policy-making. Additionally, as part of the GMR Group’s Senior Management Team, Meena actively contributed to shaping the organization’s direction.

Meena’s passion for institution building and the establishment of effective systems and processes has been a consistent thread throughout her professional journey. She has successfully set up and managed institutions, harnessing her extensive experience and knowledge.

Furthermore, Meena’s involvement in promoting diversity and inclusion is evident through her role as the Chair of the Committee against Sexual Harassment at the GMR Group for several years. Her dedication to fostering an inclusive work environment reflects her commitment to creating positive change.

With her comprehensive background in environmental education, social development, senior management and board positions, Meena possesses a holistic understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles and practices. Her diverse experiences and deep interest in these areas have shaped her into a well-rounded professional.
