Dr. Ramasastry Ambarish has several decades of experience in Indian private and public equity markets. He founded and managed Vasishta Fund, an FII fund investing in Indian public markets, between 2003 and 2008. He has been associated, in various capacities, with several PE funds. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board and Investment Committee at OAKS Asset Management ( www.oaksamc.com ). He previously served (2010–2018) on the Advisory Board of Gaja Capital ( www.gajacapital.com ). From 2012 to 2019, he was Managing Director of RA & Son Pvt. Ltd., an investment advisory firm in Singapore.
He has over three decades of experience in global financial markets and the securities industry. His earlier experience includes roles as Vice President with the Global Markets Group at Citibank and as a Principal Financial Officer at the World Bank, Washington D.C. He has advised several large institutional investors, including pension funds, treasuries, and central banks across the globe, on investment and risk-management strategies.
He is the Non-Executive Chairman of AppPoint Software Solutions ( www.apppoint.com ), a privately held technology company in Bangalore. He serves on the Board of Directors of Xpheno ( www.xpheno.com ), a specialized staffing company, and Vigyanlabs ( https://www.vigyanlabs.com/ ), a technology company working in the areas of data centers and AI.
He is also on the Board of Directors of Cyberverse Foundation (https://cyberversefoundation.org/) and Pratyagra Foundation ( https://pratyagrafoundation.org/ ), two Section 8 companies focused on cybersecurity and entrepreneurship. Additionally, he is a Trustee of IIMPACT ( www.iimpact.net ), a non-profit organization providing access to quality primary education to young girls across India, especially in remote villages and tribal regions.
He has served as a faculty member at several business schools, including the Stern School of Business (NYU), McGill University (Montreal), the University of Wisconsin (Madison), and Georgetown University (Washington D.C.).
He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Stern School of Business (NYU), a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad, a B.E. (Electrical Technology & Electronics) from IISc Bangalore, and a B.Sc. (Physics & Mathematics) from the University of Mysore, India.
